Material guides
Know your stone before you choose it.
Every material we fabricate has real strengths and real limits. These guides cover what actually matters for a working kitchen or bath in the Midlands: durability, maintenance, heat, and cost, without the marketing spin.
The materials we fabricate
Soapstone
Non-porous natural stone. No sealing, acid-proof, great heat resistance. It will scratch, but scratches sand out.
Dolomite
Natural stone with marble-like looks. A bit harder than marble, but still etches from acids. Often mislabeled.
Travertine
Warm limestone with distinctive pitting. Better for floors, baths, and backsplashes than kitchen countertops.
Side-by-side
Not sure which material wins for your situation?
The comparison pages put any two materials side by side with a direct answer on which one makes more sense and where each one falls short.
Explore by room
Where are you putting it?
The right stone depends on the room. Kitchens, baths, showers, fireplaces, and outdoor kitchens each have different demands. Each guide covers what works and what to watch out for.

Come see real slabs at the showroom.
Spec tables help, but nothing replaces looking at the actual stone. We pull slabs side by side, talk through how you cook and what you clean with, and give you a straight recommendation. No pressure.
