Crossroads Outreach Center kitchen in Black Pearl granite

This one's a kitchen for Crossroads Outreach Center in Lexington, and we set it up in polished Black Pearl granite with an eased edge. The photos show the work going in during a renovation, so we were working around a space that was still coming together. White cabinets, an island, and a peninsula run give the room a bright base, and the dark tops pull it all together.

Black Pearl is a granite that earns its keep in a busy kitchen. It's got a deep charcoal-to-black background with little flecks of silver and gray that catch the light when it's polished. That glossy finish is what gives it the shine you see on the island and the counters. Up close there's real movement in it, but from across the room it reads as a clean, solid dark surface. That's a big part of why it works here. It hides everyday use and still looks sharp.

Granite like this is a workhorse. It takes heat, it shrugs off scratches, and with a good seal it holds up to the kind of steady use a place like an outreach center puts on a kitchen. Lots of hands, lots of pots, lots of cleanup. We template tight so the seams land where they make sense, and we set the undermount stainless sink so the counter carries right down into the bowl with no lip to catch crumbs. Easy to wipe down, easy to keep clean.

The eased edge is the right call for a space like this. It's a soft, squared-off profile with the sharpness knocked off the top, so it's comfortable to lean against and simple to clean. No fussy detail to chip or trap grime. The island and the peninsula both get the same edge, which keeps the whole room consistent.

Working in Lexington on a project meant for the community is the kind of job we're glad to take. Dark polished granite over white cabinets is a look that lasts, and it'll serve this kitchen for a long time.
