Our work
Kitchen in Hemley White quartzite with full-height backsplash
This was a two-part job: a kitchen in Leathered Hemley White quartzite and a master bath done in EasyStones Shadow quartz. The kitchen carries the show. Light-toned stone with soft, quiet veining runs across the island and the perimeter counters, and it keeps the whole room feeling open and bright. The photos show a big island with seating on one side, so it's a kitchen built for people to gather around, not just cook in.
Hemley White is a natural quartzite, and that matters in a kitchen. Quartzite is one of the harder stones we work with, formed under real heat and pressure, so it stands up to daily use better than a lot of softer marbles that look similar. You get that clean, marble-like look with the veining, but with more resistance to scratching and etching. It still wants to be sealed and treated with a little care around liquids, but for a busy kitchen it's a smart choice. The light background lets the veining read soft instead of loud, which is why it works so well on a big island where the whole slab is on display.
The standout here is the full-height backsplash behind the range. That's a wall of stone running from the counter up, no tile grout lines to scrub, just clean slab. To pull that off you template tight to the wall, account for any bow or out-of-square, and match the veining so the counter and the backsplash read as one piece. It's more work to fabricate and set, but the result is worth it. We installed an undermount sink in the kitchen too, which keeps the counter easy to wipe down with nothing sitting proud of the surface.
The master bath got EasyStones Shadow quartz on a double vanity with undermount sinks. Quartz is engineered, so it's non-porous and low fuss, which is exactly what you want in a bathroom that sees water and product every day. No sealing, easy to keep clean, and consistent from slab to slab. The two materials play off each other: natural stone with real movement in the kitchen, and a steady engineered surface in the bath.
We cut and fit both here in the Midlands and set them clean. Tight seams, level runs, edges eased soft so they're comfortable to lean on and easy to keep. It's the kind of job that looks simple when it's done right, which is the point.
